Two Hurt In Wrecks

Two people were injured in a pair of bi-county traffic accidents on Wednesday, September 21.

According to reports of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a Verona woman was hurt in a two-vehicle accident a half mile south of Purdy on Highway 37 in Barry County on Wednesday, September 21, at 6:25 a.m.

Donna Hammond, 58, a passenger, sustained serious injuries and was taken to Cox Monett Hospital.

She was passenger in a vehicle driven by her husband, Norman Hammond, 68, of Verona. Joe Robinson, 43, of Cassville, was the other driver.

The wreck occurred when the southbound Ford driven by Hammond skidded across the center line and was struck head-on by the northbound Volvo driven by Robinson.

Trooper Les Wilson is investigating the accident.
